1D Section Properties?

Hi,

This is a dumb question but I'm kind of lost!

Could anyone tell me where I can find definition of the cross section dimentions (like l,h,b1,b2,t1,t2 and t3 in the attached capture screen)?

If the cross section is a circle, obviously the only dimention to be defined is the radius but how about an I-section!!!? I tried the HM documentation but I didn't find anything there!!!
Could you also tell me where should I look for these types of rookie questions? Apparently HM documentation is not helpful icon_sad.gif

Thank you

    maysam,

This really depends on the solver you intend to use, which is it?

Each solver manual will have its definitions for its standard sections, see here below for example explanations of some of the the standard cross sections of optistruct.

when you use hyperbeam as described in the above post, you again will get a clear idea of what the definitions of the cross section variables are,

you can always ask the rookie questions or really any questions here, the other best place will be to start with the hyperworks student guide.
