Why I cannot create a straight line node path?

Please refer to the pic. I need to create a node path between node 21808 (top) and 21670 (bottom) to plot stress vs depth but the generated pattern is nothing similar to a straight line. Please let me know if there are other ways. Thank you!

node path will take a route through your mesh nodes. That's why you get something like this.

If you want a "straight line", then activate first a section cut into your model, in the desired plan, and then, once you have your section cut, create a measure of type 'node path' into this section cut. HyperView will create a virtual node path, and the nodes with * are interpolated nodes on the section cut.

Unless I select node by node, it still choses a different path than a straight line. Am I missing a function to tell Hypermesh to use the shortest path?

try to select by smaller steps instead of going directly from end-to-end.
