Unable to generate Tetra mesh from 2D shell

Hi, I got stuck with a mesh problem.

I generated 2D shell with the "find faces" function on a 3D meshed model. Then I tried to generate another 3D meshed with the 2D shell again. Hypermesh threw me an errors saying that there are self-intersection elements. How could this happen, as I have the original 3D mesh?

Can you execute the check 2D mesh feature from the tetra panel to isolate the area causing the issue: image .

Not sure about an answer to your specific model, but it may just need a simple fix.

Another thought is the initial tetra mesh has some poor elements (eg twisted) which isn't allowing clean trias to be generated.

You can use the quality check panel F10 to check the tets for aspect and Jacobian.
