Zero Results in Linear Structural Analysis when apply distributed load - SimSolid 2024
I want to ask a question about the simulation results in SimSolid version 2024. I tried to do a linear structural analysis by applying a distributed load of 800 kg to my model and applied fixed and slider supports at the bottom, but when I got the results, it showed 0 values for all outputs (as if it was not calculated), including displacement and von Mises stress. Is there an issue with the program, or do I need to set up more conditions before running the simulation? Please advise. I have applied steel to all parts and made all the connections already. Kindly see pictures attched for refrence.
Thank you,
Pichaya

Hello Pichaya
How are you doing?
Your analysis is very good and the setup looks nice, let me explain why you're not getting results in your linear structural analysis:
You're applying a distributed mass, however, in order for it to be consider in the linear structural analysis this mass should be transformed into a force, and for that you need gravity!
Your distributed mass is completely all right, you only need to specify a gravity load with direction so the model can determine where the mass induced forces are going to, please include this gravity force and run your model again.
Let me know if this works!

Hi Ricado,
Thank you! I finally get the results. But i confront with another problem that the displacement magnitude looks too much comparing to the amount of load applied which is 800 kg distrinuted load and -1 gravity in y direction.

Hi Pichaya,
Good to see it worked!
What I can think of is that the part that is under the major displacements is not properly connected to the rest of the structure.
Right-click on that part and Review Connections, if the part is not properly connected I would recommend manually create the connections, increase the gap and penetration tolerances if using automatic connections or increase the contact resolution.
Please let me know.
Best,
R.
