Problem with coordinate systems (unv. file Block 18) in model correlation
Hello,
I have another question regarding Model Correlation in HyperView. I want to compare shapes from experimental modal analysis and numerical modal analysis. For the experimental modal analysis we used a hammer (excitation) at a fixed position and several sensors. Each of these sensors has a different orientation (since it was a rotational structure). In the measurement system you have to specify these directions for each sensor before the measurement (FRFs). Then you can export the FRFs into MEscopes and do some postprocessing. With a curve fitting algorithm I am able to extract the modes. I can export these as well as the structure (including the coordinate systems for each data point) in an .unv file. I want to import this file in Hyperview and do my model correlation.
Now the problem is, that apparently Hyperview doesnt support the unv. file Block 18 correctly, which includes the coordinate systems. When i animate the modes, I dont see any movement of my nodes, only changing colours. What confuses me furthermore: I have done a similar measurement of a larger structure, for this we imported a FEM mesh to MEscopes. If I export this structure, I get Block 18, Block 15 (node coordinates), Block 2412 (triangles from the mesh). This in conjunction with the corresponding modes works fine in Hyperview. For some reason I only see the moving points (no bars, triangles etc), but at least it looks like it worked.
I hope you understand what I mean, do you know anything about problems with experimental mode shape data and coordinate systems? Is there any way that could solve my problem? Thank you for replies

UNV is very old (and died) format (of old and died I-DEAS software). I don't think Altair has enough customer's interest to add the support for this format.

HV supports the blocks stated in the documentation as follows.
I'm also attaching a sample UNV file that is supported by HV.
