Driver panel display issue
Hello,
I am trying to create a custom event, and I understand that this requires modifying the behavior of the Altair driver by changing its input file. However, I'm facing an issue—when I attempt to view the Altair driver's panel, nothing is displayed (please see the attached picture). As a result, I am unable to modify the driver.
Could you please advise on how I can get the Altair driver's panel to display correctly or guide me on how to create a custom event?
Thank you in advance for your help.
Have a nice day!

Hi MBure,
The new interface of MotionView uses the Entity Editor, which can be enabled from View >> Entity Editor.
Hope this helps!

Hi,
Thank you, then do you know how I could do custom events with custom driving paths (not road)? Because in the entity editor you can't load files. I have been looking about on the Altair website but it always brings me to tutorial of older versions.
Thanks in advance

Hi MBure,
The best source for getting started with MotionView is our eLearning courses.
Altair offers an introductory course, MotionView/MotionSolve Introduction eLearning, for solving multi-body dynamics (MBD) problems using HyperWorks and illustrates constructing, solving and post-processing MBD problems. This course focuses on general Multibody mechanisms and is a starting point for learning modeling in MotionSolve. You can find it at the following link: https://learn.altair.com/enrol/index.php?id=496
Altair also offers a specialized multi-body dynamics (MBD) course for vehicle modeling, called MotionSolve for Vehicle Modeling eLearning. This class introduces the application of MotionSolve for vehicle modeling applications, such as assembly of half or full car models, vehicle event creation, generating event reports, modifying vehicle subsystems, and preliminary verification methods. You can find it at the following link: https://learn.altair.com/enrol/index.php?id=497
Most, if not all, of your vehicle modeling questions will likely be answered in the Vehicle Modeling course.
To your question, I'm not clear on what you mean by doing a driving event without using a road.
- If you want to do an event without a road then you can complete a NPost simulation, like a shaker post event.
- If you want to have a driving vehicle follow a specific path, then you can create a RoadCourse event which allows the Path Profile to be set by a Curve or the Centerline of a road file (RDF).
- Road files can be applied to any driven event under the Road Settings tab in the Entity Editor.
Hope this helps!
