Motion Solve doesn't run the analysis

Hi,

I am quite new to Altair products, so I am sorry if this topic has already been covered. I did search everywhere I could for an answer.

I ran an analysis of the front of a FSAE vehicle and it worked the first couple of times, but now it just goes as far as writing the .xlm file and stops. Leaving me with empty reports.

I am afraid this has something to do with the student license or improper installation. I did try to reinstall it, unfortunately, the problem persisted. The version I have is the 2021.2 Student version for Windows 10 (64).

One other possibility that comes to my mind is that I might be saving the files in the wrong folder, as I just chose one to my liking. This folder is in a external hard drive, by the way.

Does anyone have a suggestion on how I can solve this problem?

    Hello Walter - Looking at what you described, looks like you missed installing the solver when you reinstalled.

    So, MotionView is not able to trigger MotionSolve after exporting the solver deck (xml)

    You need 3 installer files to completely install MotionView and Motionsolve together.

    hw2021.2_win64.exe Master Installer
    hwDesktop2021.2_win64.exe HyperWorks Desktop installer. Installs pre and post applications such as MotionView, HyperView, Hypermesh etc..
    hwSolvers2021.2_win64.exe HyperWorks solver installer. Installs solvers such as MotionSolve, Optistruct, Radioss etc..
       

    You need to place all these 3 files in one folder. And use the Master installer hw2021.2_win64.exe only. This will detect all the other Altair product installers available in the folder and helps to install all the products in one installation.

    So, in this case (of 3 installers), the master installer will install Hyperworks desktop (which contains MotionView) and Hyperworks solver (which contains MotionSolve) together.

    One way of verifying if you have all the needed installations is, in MotionView to go to Help menu > Updates & System Information.

    It should list both hwDesktop and hwSolvers as shown below.
