How can I measure fragmentation in EDEM?
Hello,
I did a CFD-DEM simulation. HM-JKR has been used as the P-P force. During the simulation, a lot of agglomerates have been created and their size (number of particles in agglomerates) changed with time. I want to measure the fragmentation of agglomerates in EDEM.
I mean I want to know how primary particles separate from agglomerates.
Is there any tool that measures this parameter in EDEM?
Regards,
Fatemeh

Hi Fatemeh,
You should be able to compute this from the EDEM contacts data. You can look at metrics like the coordination number directly in EDEM or do further post-processing using EDEMpy. See my previous reply for more details:
Is it possible to use EDEMpy to see the contour of a coordination number?
This EDEMpy example uses contacts data:
Calculating the Segregation Index and RSD of mixing using EDEMpy in postprocessing
Best regards,
Stefan

Hi Stefan,
Many thanks for your reply.
I have used EDEMpy before but I can't figure out how to measure detachment of primary particles from floc using the coordination number.
Could you please advise me in this matter?
