Missing Features in Student HyperWorks Bundle
I've now been struggling with this for over 2 weeks. Since applying for the student license I have not been able to access HyperMesh within the Hyperworks 2022 (The option is greyed out) and the license log informs me that this feature is not found (along with GlobalZoneAP, Hyperworks, and HWHyperMesh with an error code 9 for all of this). I have checked over all the "troubleshooting steps" for the student license that is oft-linked on this forum, and plus the application does open and I can interact with the buttons, it's just that nothing works. I even reapplied for the license using the wireless adapter lan wifi physical address, no dice. I checked the md 52 checksum against what was quoted in the forum about 2 months ago, exact match so I don't think the executable has corrupted. I'm honestly at my wit's end here on what to do, and would really love some assistance as I can't get dedicated support from Altair on the free student license.

From your wording about license and 'since then not being able to access HM in HW', are you trying to run the commercial install package HW on your student license? I think there is a specific install package for the student version you need to use instead?

Sorry I am unclear, I don't have access to the student edition to test anything!

No, no whatever copy of HW i am using is the one donwloaded and installed from a link they send through email to download any of the student suite of softwares when you register for a student Altair License. I apologize if my wording was unclear.
Where I download the edu2022_win64.exe from
It says my license is activated, but features are missing
Greyed out Hypermesh tool in whatever Hyperworks 2022 that instals from the aforemention .exe
Double-checking that my physical address matched whatever I quoted during my second time applying for the license with the wireless land adapter address and then was given back as the altair_lic.dat file used to activate the program currently

To me, that all looks ok?, the 'standard' product features are missing, but I think this is expected in a student license, the message continues and opens the edu features (Checked out HyperWorks EDU), otherwise you wouldn't be able to open the product at all, regarding HyperMesh being greyed out, that doesn't mean it is missing, just that you are already in HyperMesh!, that is why it is greyed out, you can't switch to the product you are already in, see below, same for me
so, if you switch to HyperView, then it is greyed out, and HyperMesh is available to switch back to

Ah ok, so then I'm a little confused on why I'm unable to import an stl file as I'm doing here? Am I doing it wrong here?

Ah, ok, you asked about this before?, I'm not sure still if stl is supported in student release, the Student limitations page says only Iges, STEP and Solidworks for geometry, but there was an answer given for 2020 release that suggested you could do it the way you have there by importing as mesh. I asked a colleague to check up for me/you, but they are on vacation until next week. Can you share the stl? I can check if it works in HW. Otherwise, The Student version of Inspire is not limited/restricted at all I don't believe, you can read it into inspire, click analysis, and export as Optistruct.fem to import to HM, e.g. below.

Unfortunately, I am not at liberty to share this specific file as it is another universities research that I have been given permission to use. However I just used some free 3D model that was an stl file that I found (https://pinshape.com/items/34250-3d-printed-tortoise-keychain-smartphone-stand) and did the same process as I did in the gif and got the same outcome. So I think maybe you're right that the student version simply doesn't accept the stl format.

I'll let you know what my colleague says, I couldn't get the inspire method to work, but successfully got simlab to import stl and export as fem, so you could try that?

Ah, thanks for your help. But I think that perhaps on the student edition I think I may not be allowed to as apparently "Export of Solvers deck is not available" is said on the limitations page?
