Property Assign Error in HM 2017.1?
Hello,
I think I may have found another bug in HW/HM 2017.1.
Sometimes HM is not able to assign properties to elements when it is attemped via Properties containers. Right click on a property container and select assign. Chose the elements and click on proceed. No assignment takes place.
I have to assign prop via component containers i.e. right click on a component container -> assign -> Select the right property card. Then the property card is assigned to the elements.
I have to say here that in my future attempts, I was able to successfully assign property via the prop cards browser.
It seems like it is happening ONLY the first time I try to assign via the property browser. It happened yesterday when I was trying to assign PSOLID property to a solid elements and again earlier today when I was trying to assign PSHELL prop to QUAD elements.
If this can be reproduced by others, perhaps then the Dev team can take note of this as well to fix for future releases.

Hi,
Thank you for notifying us. But when we tried the same from our end but it works fine. The property is getting updated once we assign directly from the property collector.
Please delete all setting files (http://forum.altairhyperworks.com/index.php?/topic/13434-how-to-delete-settings-files/?hl=delete) and try assigning the properties.

Hi,
I just wanted to report that I faced the issue of assignment of Properties via Property Collector earlier today. I was trying to assign a PSHELL and PCOMP properties to displayed element and somehow it was not being assigned. Finally, had to assign it via Component collector -> Assign.
I also tried clearing files per the link above. Anyways, like I mentioned, it happens sometimes but most of the times it seems to work. Probably the issue could be just on my system.

Hello,
Just a few more questions in hope of resolving the above.
Is there anyway to retrieve and review log file in HM/HW? I can see that an error message appears in the bottom when I try to assign PCOMP prop, but it disappears very quickly. So, I am not able to know the error.
EDIT: I was able to 'make out' the error message after repeated attempts at assigning. The error message states 'Selected Elements and Surfaces are not found in the model' (I think). I dunno what it means 'cause clearly the surface along with mesh exists in the model. Any guesses?
Secondly, is there anything missing from the PCOMP card which is why perhaps HM is not allowing me to assign? Strangely, there are no issues when I try to assign property via components collector. Anyways, I have set the solver to MSC Nastran.
