Creating Windows Desktop Shortcut of Hyperworks

I tried creating a desktop shortcut of Hypermesh Desktop from Programs > Altair >Hypermesh Desktop program link 'C:\Program Files\Altair\14.0\hw\bin\win64\hw.exe' /clientconfig hwfepre.dat

But when I open the link, Hypermesh Desktop launches but I get an error 'The file being read does not exist'. The issue is that the application does not then import any solver deck. I am modifying my earlier post & title. It turns out that if I open the Hypermesh Desktop program from Start Menu bar, the module is then able to import both Nastran & Optistruct solver decks, but if I try to open the program using desktop shortcut link, then I have issues.

Just curious...how do I create a desktop shortcut of Hypermesh Desktop?

    Hi @Burner2k

    There could be several reasons for this error.

    it could be because the file that you are working with is corrupt. The best way to recover your work when you encounter such errors is to rerun the commands you performed in HM. Follow these steps:

    1) open command.tcl (Located in your Hm working directory. By default it is 'My Documents'). command.tcl contains the history of all the commands that HM performed while you were working on model. It is like a log file.
    2) Copy all the commands that were performed since you last started your work. Look for commands that shows that you opened a hm file or imported a deck.Copy all the commands that occur below that point.
    3) Goto HM and enable the command window. It is in View > Command Window.
    4) Paste all the commands here. This will perform all the actions that you may have lost in the crashed HM file.

    Please let me know if that works for you.

    Hi Prakash,

    Thanks for the quick response. I have changed my original question. It seems like import function works correctly when I launch the program from Windows Start Menu. I had created a shortcut on the desktop for Hypermesh Desktop program and when the program is launched using that shortcut, I was having issues importing solver deck files.

    @Burner2k

    Go to all Programs and find HyperMesh, Right click and select send to Desktop(Create Shortcut). This should place a Desktop shortcut.
