Not sure if this is a bug...
I have installed the latest HW 2017.2.2 Hotfix. I am working in Engineering Solutions -> Aerospace -> MSC Nastran User profile.
I have turned ON Checks Toolbars under Toolbars->Hypmersh->Checks. But each time I open HW Desktop, the checks toolbars is not visible. Gotta turn it back ON manually. Previously, I used to work on Hypermesh -> MSC Nastran User Profile with Checks Toolbars ON and I did not face the issue of disappearance.
I will clear all the Temp files along with Userprofile files in Altair directories and see if that fixes the issue.
Secondly, I am hoping some one could reproduce this. Imported a STEP geometry in to HM and it created a component automatically (lets call it 'A').
I was doing Hex Meshing in HM. Had to break down the solids in to various blocks to make it mappable and/or for easier meshing.
Used 3D -> Solid Map -> General command to 'extrude' a 2D mesh. The resulting 3D mesh would be placed in a 'Solid Map' component. Moved the 3D elements from Solid Map component in to 'A'.
I created a new Component 'B' and moved all the solid geo along with its associated 3D elements in to 'B' from 'A'.
Now, even though I had made the component 'A' active, whatever 2D elements I was creating was being placed in to the component 'B'. Each time, I had to manually move elements from B to A which was annoying. I have not faced this issue before and there fore not sure if its a bug or something which happened one-time!
Just wanted to report the above two.

Hi,
Please make sure the meshing option is set to 'elems to current comp'.
Thank you

This is intentional. For one volume and multi-volume you have an option to organize elements but not for general solid map
