Solution Design Document
Hi,
Are there any templates of how other institutions efficiently document the solution of the Monarch design? I'm looking at it as an audit point of view or even passing on to the next developer, what the process does, what inputs or outputs, stakeholders, signoffs, etc.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Leslie

Hi Leslie!
Great question! We don't have something on best documentation actually, but here's an answer on some insight on what is captured within Monarch that might be helpful;
Monarch Classic: Within Monarch Classic a Model file contains a detailed audit trail of ownership and also steps taken with the model. You can see the date and who created a model, what they did over time.
Monarch Data Prep Studio: Within Data Prep Studio (DPS) it's slightly different. What we have within it are the Change histories, as well as a visual of the Load Plan which contains all the data sources joins and transformations included.
At the moment that's what we have, hope that is helpful.
From a Governance or Audit perspective the only other thing I would mention is the Server Library within the Monarch Server application, but as far as best efficient ways to use the product, and process documentation, that is more of a best practices sort of guidance which we can help provide some insight on. Please take a look at what we have in our Monarch Success Plan, there are some videos there that provide some insight on this.
