Hello!

I have to model a structure with carbon fiber. I am using de MAT8 and I cant find anywhere these 2 properties. Hypermesh can run the analysiswithout them, but I want to know how Hypermesh estimates the variables, and if they are well estimated.

    Hi,

4 basic composite properties (E11, E22, G12, nu12) are enough to define any composite material. Remaining 5 properties (E33, nu13, nu23, G13, G23) can be derived from certain formulae.

    Example: A unidirectional composite material has the following formulae: E22 = E33, nu12 = nu13, G12 = G13 and G23 = E22 / [ 2 * (1+ nu23 )].

So, this is how HyperMesh determines the remaining properties using basic properties.
