3D Meshing Error

Hello,

I am meshing a component (bracket). 2D mesh yields good mesh model.

While trying a 3D mesh, it yields the following error ' 2 edges failed nodal setup'

I have tried in identifying which elements are they by trying to retrieve elements, then using mask and reverse options.

But the failed elements are not being displayed..

Pls help in how to identify the failed elements.

Regards,

Karthik

    Hi,

    I tried two options:

    1) 2D mesh and then tetra mesh sub panel..

    2) Directly 3D mesh with volume tetra option..

But both are yielding the same result.

The thing is i would like to know on how to find out the edges that are failed as displayed in the message.

I have attached the hm file.

    Any suggestions pls.

    Hi tinh,

    Thanks. Pl find attached image.

For me, I am getting the message as I have highlighted. But as I have asked in the beginning, how to find it in the model.

    It is not highlighting anywhere!

    Regards,

    Karthik

Right click on component '^edges' > Isolate Only

    You will see the position

Do you 'clean' your CAD before meshing?

    Hello Nguyen-Dai,

In this particular assembly, since there are a total of 260 components, I skipped the routine first step of CAD cleaning process and planned to clean only those that display an error during meshing.

    Hi tinh,

    Thankyou for your suggestions.

Clearing out the single T-connection, the model is now meshing.

Also, With the t-connection itself, shrink wrap is able to make a solid mesh.

Is the shrink wrap option advisable?

    Regards,

    Karthik

No, it isn't. Shring wrap is just used to simplify mesh for complex shapes
