How to remesh for 20mm to 50mm for a big model?

I have a model with 2 million elements. The element size is 20mm now. I need to remesh it to 50mm size.

What is the quickest way to remesh the whole model easily?

    Hi stalewad,

     

    you can still use the automesher and select elements for meshing.

    Set your new mesh size, check the feature and vertex angle, set connectivity and mesh. Maybe you can't do it interactive, in this case switch to automatic.

    Hi Mario,

     

    I have done this step. Components loose the connectivities (mesh connectivity) at many locations. Manually reconnection is very time consuming and almost takes equal time of meshing. 

    I am looking for any innovative idea to keep the connectivity and generate the good mesh as parent mesh.

    Hi stalewad,

     

    if you stay with keep connectivity, it will be normally fine. Otherwise often the original mesh is not 100% connected.

    For me it works also very good for a lot of elements, but 2 millions is quit a lot for this task.

    Hi,

     

    I have an idea to keep connectivity.

    I have generated 1D rod elements between all the components and selected adjacent elements and remesh. This will keep your connectivity and generates bigger elements at the interfaces. again remesh remaining mesh by reversing.

    if your model is correcly connected, usually HM keeps your connectivity through remeshing, as Mario's example.

    It looks strange losing connectivity like this. 

    Can you show some pictures in details where it lost its connection?
