A question from a simple case study I did

Hi,

I create a PEC plate which is illuminated by a uniform plane wave and then I introduce an aperture on the surface with a specific dimension. I found that the calculated field levels at certain frequencies become higher than expected (I set the input field value to be 1 V/m).

Thanks,

Sam

    Hi Sam,

Without seeing the model you may try refining the mesh on the edges of the aperture. Please note that it is generally recommended to perform a "mesh convergence study". This means refining the mesh and comparing the results. Only when the results do not change significantly, the mesh is fine enough. Of course, strictly speaking, this is only necessary if there are special features such as small but important details in the model.

    Best regards,
    Torben
