Problem about Contact with Element and Nodes

Is Contact between elements and nodes possible in Hyperworks?

I have a Carrier (B) supporting a Caisson (A). The Caisson is placed  on top of the Carrier only (without weld).

Like this case, how do you model the contact between the Caisson and the Carrier?

I have attached the dwg file and the model I made but I got stuck with the contact issue.

It's difficult to read and understand the help documents and I find it faster to just ask here.

Pardon me for going in here directly (i find it better actually)

    Hi,

Yes. It is possible to use contact in all structural solvers in HyperWorks (OptiStruct, Radioss, SimSolid,..)

You should take care with models that relies only in contact, specially with implicit solvers, concerning convergence. It is not such a big problem for Radioss as it is explicit.

Modeling or not contacts(full NL) depends on what you want to do and what you want to compute. Sometimes having just a linear contact already gives you what you need.

For the HW help I suggest you to be more specific when searching at the help, and go first for the solver page that you're looking for help.

Also, you can Google OptiStruct contact and find a couple videos showing howto. :)/emoticons/default_smile.png' srcset='/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x' title=':)' width='20' />
