Model humans in Altair WinProp WallMan/ ProMan

Hi everyone,

I am new to Altair WinProp and I have a student license.

What I am trying to do is make indoor simulations using standard WiFi routers and observe the usual parameters like field strength, power et cetera for the simulation. What I am really interested in is to add humans in the simulation and observe the effect on these output parameters. Meaning how humans affect the propagation of EM waves in indoor scenarios.

So far I have not come across any documentation or tutorial that shows me if that is possible at all. I was wondering if someone could kindly point me in the right direction (tutorials, documents, manuals) about how to introduce/model humans in simulation in ProMan/WallMan.

Also, if not possible, are there any workaround solutions to this problem?

Finally, I have another question, is there a way to automate the indoor vector database? So far, I have had to build the 3D vector data base in WallMan. By automating it, I mean, is there a to generate the required database file by clicking images of an indoor room (for example) and then using an API/ open-source software that generates the vector database file that can be imported into ProMan for the EM simulation?

I'm not an EM specialist, but i know FEKO supports the called Phantoms.

WinProp does support human phantoms in Indoor scenarios. If you have a human phantom in one of the WallMan supported formats, you can import it. Otherwise, use the cylinder/sphere primitives to build a generic phantom in WallMan.

Regarding the automation, WinProp's API uses Microsoft Visual Studio (not any open source). You can go through the "Scripting API reference guide" that comes with installation for more details and examples.

You can create a generic phantom with sphere as head and cylinders for body, arms and legs. So, the only properties you need to modify would be the dimensions to represent the physical size of a human. Once the geometry is created, you can assign the desired material properties (most people go with a single homogeneous dielectric for the entire phantom).
