HyperMesh versions compatibility for E-learnings
Hi,
I'm doing the E-learnings from the 2024 HyperWorks (HyperMesh) version, which use several *.hm files created in the 2024 version.
Altair Course: Getting Started with HyperMesh v2024
But the software I have installed at my working machine has the 2022.3 version, and I can't open any of those *.hm files used in the demonstration videos. Meaning that I can't properly complete the e-learnings.
Is there any way to have those files converted into the 2022.3 version?
What else can I do to have a better user experience?
Thanks!

Hi @Batalha ! Unfortunately, HyperMesh is not backward compatible. You will need a 2024 version license to access the 2024 files. However, there are some recommendations you can follow:
- Access the Altair Marketplace with an Altair One account: https://altairone.com/marketplace and try getting the version you're interested in. You'll be able to improve your experience by getting the latest product enhancements, which differ from the oldest versions.
- Take a look at our OptiStruct for Linear Analysis using HyperWorks v2022.2 eLearning course in which you'll be able to find a similar .hm model. However, this will represent a different input to successfully follow along the 2024 course.
- Finally, you can export the file solver deck and import it into any version. However, keep in mind this may lead to losing some geometry.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if there's anything else I can help with.
