Possible material application to big part using a CSV file?

Hi all, 

 

I have a really big assembly to which I have to apply different materials to the parts. The thing is, that selecting the type parts and applying the material is really tedious. My question is: is there any way of applying the materials to the parts via a CSV document for example? if not, what would be the better way to process this kind of operation? Thank you!

Hi Rafa,

 

Currently we don't have any functions to assign materials via CSV, it has to be done manually. I will see if we can add that function for future releases but for now, I have a few suggestions that might help.

1. Right-click on the Assembly folder > Show. Use the filters in this menu to isolate certain types of parts or parts with specific names and select them to apply materials. This is especially helpful for nuts/bolts.

2. If the CAD file you're importing has material metadata already, you can tell SimSolid to look for that attribute when importing files and assign the materials accordingly. There is a tutorial for this in the Help under Tutorials > Assembly > SS-T: 1000 Geometry Import.
