Hi

I am working on sructural analysis of a motor. the motor rotor is a stack of thin plates (0.5mm thk).

Can i model this stack as solid (solid elements ).

As the stack plates are of ekectrical steel (brittle compared to steel) can i take material properties of steel for the same as i dont have mechanical properties for the electrical steel.

    Hi mpvnaresh

    You can use 2D > elem offset for creating a stack of solid elements

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>image.png

    can i take material properties of steel for the same as i dont have mechanical properties for the electrical steel.

    If you want to get better results it is advisable to use exactly the same material properties you are using.
