Hyperview - Element Force Vector Plot

Hi all,

I'm trying to extract fastener loads from a model using a vector plot in HyperView, but unable to plot the vectors for some reason.  The model is created in HyperMesh and run in OptiStruct.  I have a very simple model, with a 3D mesh body with a rod connected via RBE2 (SPC and force load applied to the model).

I open the model and results in HyperView and can create contour plots with no problem.  I also created a displacement vector plot without issue.  However when I try to create a vector plot of element forces for the rod element, I see no results (legend just shows "N/A").  I have checked and element force output is requested in the model.  What am I doing wrong???  Any input would be appreciated!  Thanks.

    Hi Nick,

Can you verify the following points :

-did you load your solver deck (.fem file) as the model?

-did you use the Advanced option of the Result-Math Template?

If you follow these two recommendations, you will be able to plot vectors on your model.

Can you try and come back to us?

    thanks and Regards

    Julien

    Hi Julien,

Many thanks for the response.  Your suggestions (opening the .fem file as model, with .h3d as results) and using the Advanced option of the Result-Math template (instead of Standard) solved the problem.

    Regards,

    Nick
