Equivalent source power

Hello,

I have an equivalent source that is a dipole antenna and I want to calculate the radiated power at a distance of 1meter.

Now, if I set Power = 1W and I request for spherical near filed centered in the antenna center and with a radius of 1m, I will read active power of 1W.

Nontheless, if I set No power scaling, I will read about 7mW.

Why is that? What is the power imposed by FEKO when No power scaling is set?

    Hi Antonio,

When defining a source, equivalent or not, you have the possibility to scale the source power. The default Power setting is "No power scaling". In this case, the power is computed using source parameters (magnitude, phase, impedance ... ).

In cases where you need to set the source power to a given value yourself, you can use the "Total source power" scaling and enforce that value. This is what you have done when choosing 1W.

    Hi Antonio,

In addition to Zeinas comment: When no power is defined (default) the actual power is determined by the source and how it interacts with the geometry/mesh. For a wire dipole with a voltage source of 1 V, 7mW power sounds quite realistic.

    Best regards,
