Using Batch Mesher from Parts Browser
I'm trying to use the Parts Browser to batch mesh a new Part Assembly representation similar to the example I saw in KB0116870: "HyperWorks Demo: Parts Browser Batch Meshing on a Large Model"
I have geometry pre-processed and saved as a representation named "P25 Shell" in the "common deck frame" Part Assembly. I would like to batch mesh this Part assembly in the background, so the next step I took was: right click on Part Assembly > Representations > Create as seen below:
When the "Change Representation" window appears, I select the "P25 Shell" Representation:
This is the error I receive, and no further inputs are possible beyond this point:
Here's the "P25 Shell" representation control for reference. Note that I generated and modified the specified .param file with limited batch meshing experience. I've attached the .param file as a .txt if it needs to be referenced:
Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? Thanks,
Mandy

Hello Mandy,
when you load a geometry, there is a preliminary step, before to create a representation, which is to save all your parts as CAD representation (right click -> Representation -> Save).
After this step, you should be able to create your representations.
Hope this helps,
Michael

BTW, can you please confirm which version you are using. If not released yet, we should soon propose an option to automatically save this CAD representation before creating the mesh one.

Thanks Michael. I'm using 2023, but I can't find the subversion (I installed it 11/2023 and I think it was the latest at that time).
There was a CAD representation available in the model, so I loaded that and saved it to my working library (since I didn't see a copy of it in my folder structure) then tried to run the batch mesher on the shell representation and received the same error. Is this an issue where I need to start from scratch and save that CAD representation to my session or library before moving on to creating further representations or doing any preprocessing work?
In other words, is the midsurfacing and geometry cleanup that I already conducted on this model salvagable if I want to use the parts browser batch mesher?
Appreciate it!

Hello Mandy,
I recently got one case where I got only the 2D mesh sent to batchmesher when I asked for a 2mm 2D mesh representation from the CAD representation. That means the Common representation was nbot sent, which was the expected input for the mesh representation.
Are you facing such a situation?
In any other situation, having all your parts saved with a CAD representation should be enough to create a 2D mesh representation.
Best Regards,
Michael
