Hello every one

i have created one E-shaped microstrip antenna and its simulation was fine. when I have generated linear array and error is appeared in the simulation.

Questions:

1- how can we solve this kind of errors?

2- how can we extend the dielectric so that all the antennas share the same dielectric?

your help and consideration are much appreciated

the FEKO models are in the attachment

    Hello @oussama1

What version of Feko are you using and what is the error message that you encounter?

The fast array solution is supported for SEP dielectric regions in Feko version 14.0.430 and later.

    Kind regards

    Madelé

    Hello @MvdM

my version is old I think. it is suit 7 (2014).  i will try to update it. however, i didn't understand your answer. can you explain more? please check the attachment in the first message to see the error.

    thank you in advance

No error appears in my simulation of your model, . I used version 2018.1.2.

To solve this model in an older version, you cannot use the fast array method.

On the ribbon in CADFEKO, go to the Solve/Run tab and select 'Solver settings'. Deactivate 'Solver model with the Domain Green's Function Method (DGFM)'.

    hello,

thank you so much it works. what was the problem in the model so that the Domian Green's function method cannot be used? is it the dielectric (separated)?

The problem, for the version you are using, is the dielectric. The Domain Green's function method for fast array synthesis initially did not support dielectrics. This method was extended in Feko 14.0.430 to support dielectrics modelled with the Method of Moments using the surface equivalence principle (SEP).

To answer the second question in your original post:

2- how can we extend the dielectric so that all the antennas share the same dielectric?

At the moment, for touching elements you need to build the geometry without using the array tool. Union the parts to ensure mesh connectivity. You can use copy and translate, but you would have to define the individual ports and voltage sources for each element.

See this example for 2 elements: .

It would be easy to automate this process in a more current version of Feko.
