*** ERROR # 583 *** AND *** ERROR # 1004 *** - COMPOSITE OPTIMIZATION
Dear All,
I kndly ask You if you have some advices about the following topics. I have to perform composite optimizations for an exam project, but after performing static analyses of composite components (they runs correctly without errors), I am stuck in the "free size optimization" phase. In fact, all the models I tried to run give errors "ERROR # 1004" and "ERROR # 583".
As exemple, in a simple loaded plate that i created as an exercise, if i activate the control card "SCREEN", optistruct gives me thge following message:
If i disable the control card "SCREEN" and I re-launch optistruct, i get the following message:
I followed all the steps described in composite optimization tutorials, creating Design Variables, Optimization responses, constraints and objective, and i don't no where I'm wrong. see image below.
In another model, after disabling "SCREEN", i get again same "ERROR # 1004" but related to another variable (see image below)
I'm using Hyperworks 2020.1 Student Edition. As suggested in another post, i tried to save and run the files in another directory but i still get the same errors.
I attach the hm and .out file of the simple plate mentioned above.
Any advice is very very welcome. I thank You very much for the attention,
Giovanni

i've tried here in the full HyperWorks version, and i din't have any issues running the model.
Can you try using this .fem file exported from your .hm file?

Thank You very much for the reply!
as per Your kind suggestion I imported the .fem file by using the command "import solver deck" and launched optistruct. Then when the sover asked for overwriting the .fem file, i chose "no", but the message "9301 elements not defined in the template" appeared. I went in 2d > element types and i Checked the elements, that are all defined as CQUAD8 (see images below). I'm sorry I'm quite new in Hypermesh, am I doing the right procedure?
If yes, do you think that it could be useful if I try to re-install the software?
Thank You very much again for the attention, Giovanni

after importing, before running the file, just give another name, or just overwrite the fem file.
Do you still get an error?
/can you also try this generic model attached?

Dear Adriano, thank you very much, but i still get the error.
I performed the tests you suggested:
1 - I gave the .fem file another name / 2 - I overwrote the .fem.
In both cases I still got the error ***583***
I launched the topology optimization file you very kindly uploaded and It converged without any problem.
Unluckily, my assignment is about composite optimization with its three phases (free size optimization, size optimization and shuffle optimization), where I'm facing theses issues.
Would you please have any other idea or advice about it? Do you think maybe I have instead some settings on pc giving me problems with Free size optimization?
Thank You very much for the attention, for me it s very important to prepare this exam, because i would like to use Hyperworks also for Thesis, Giovanni

may i suggest you to try requesting the HyperWorks 2021 version and give it a try?
