hello all,

ı have a step model. The model has got names for every different components. I have meshed the component based on their name. keeping the name of component is important. ı export the model to bdf ,ı am using the nastran solver,ı run it .when ı open the bdf file in hypermesh ,the names of component  are being lost.  do you know that there is a way for keeping name during the conversion process from hypermesh to nastran?

best regards

Nastran (and Optistruct) do not themselves have any 'Components' or 'Parts' (only properties and materials) this affectation of components is for ease of set-up and entirely controlled by comments in the input deck, if you are exporting the input deck (bdf) from HyperMesh with comments and importing back again reading comments, then it should retain the 'Components' and naming, the export and import interfaces for OptiStruct shown below (with HM Comments options selected), Nastran output/input should be the same. If you are reading the model into another pre-processor in the middle and making other changes? then the HM comments may well be lost?
