Meshed coil error
Hello,
I am doing a core inductance model in flux. I have done this model with non-meshed coils but I want to try to use the meshed coils in order to get the additional losses of the coil due to proximity and skin effect. Each coil of the UI inductance model has 17 turns of 0.8*190 aluminium band. I have define the coil the way you can see in the pictures.
I would like to know if you see something wrong in the coil properties and also I would like to know how would be the proper way to use meshed coils in flux. I dont understand very well how should I put the terminals and the orientation of the third picture. I put the model attached if you want to take look of how I have defined all and if you see any mistake, I would be very grateful.
Thank you,
Iñigo Izaguirre

Hello Iñigo Izaguirre,
You are defining the conductors in the correct way.
Make sure that the dimensions of each strand provided will fit in the volume of the coil.
Orientation helps you in placing the strands similar to real configuration.
Please take a look at description in the link below to understand the orientation vector and rotation angle.
file:///C:/Program%20Files/Altair/2021.2/flux/Flux/Help/english/UserGuide/English/topics/CoilsInFluxOrientationOfUnitCell.htm
In your model, face 1 and face 2 have different area of cross section (there is a difference of 34 mm2 area). This will give you an error while orienting coil conductors.
Correct the volumes of coils to avoid errors while orienting coil conductors.
Thank you,
Lavanya

Hello Lavanya,
Thank you for your answer. I understand the error but I have corrected the coil volumes and it gives me the same error. I send the model with the coil volume corrected.
Thanks,
Iñigo
