EDEM Calibration

Hi Experts,

I am reaching out because I am trying to use the EDEM calibration kit to perform and compare the results of triaxial test, with the results with EDEM calibration kit. However, I have had some challenges because once all the simulation are created and they run, I tried to analyze them but when I tried to generate the combined results file, the excel file that created is empty.

I have also to run individually the different jobspec created by EDEM, but I am not sure exactly how I can create the graph Shear stress vs time and Normal force vs time.

Hi Isabel,

Which version of EDEM did you use to create the simulations? When using the calibration kit it's best to make sure you have the matching version of the kit from here - https://community.altair.com/community/en/edem-calibration-kits?id=kb_article&sysparm_article=KB0121756

Are you running the scripts from the EDEM Analyst > File > Run EDEMpy Script ? It should pop-up a window showing the script progress, are there any errors/messages when this happens?

Thank you for your reply. I think I am using the same calibration kit version of my edem, which is 2022.3. I am not running those scripts. Which folder should I use to run those scripts? the one as results of EDEM Cal?

Hi Isabel,

Apologies I didn't realise you were running via EDEM Cal, it may not be running via EDEM Cal due to the environment variables, if you update them as per this link it may then work:

Have the simulation files run to completion via EDEM Cal, if so you can also run the analysis seperatly, just open one of the files that have been run and go to EDEM Analyst > File > Run EDEMpy Script and choose the .py script (this script and associated .txt file should be in the same location as the simulation file). The script runs on the file you have opened and also other EDEM files in the same location.

Also to add we don't tend to use EDEM Cal as the EDEM HyperStudy connector has been developed which is more fully featured:
