How to create a subtotal after each group break in Monarch Classic

Hi,

I am trying to convert a report and export it into excel or csv.  I am using Monarch v14.  The model has append, detail, footer and exclusion templates.  There is a subtotal line on each grouping on the source report so I created footer to extract the 2 subtotal from the subtotal line.  The fields created from the footer are automatically placed as a column at the end of each detail line.  It is the same when exported into Excel.  What I want is the subtotal place at the end each grouping, just like the original report.  Is there a way to do it in Monarch Classic?

If it can't be done in Monarch Classic, can it be done in Data Prep?

Appreciate if you can give me some hint.  Thanks.

Christina

    Hi Christina,

For Classic, I would re-create the subtotal and validate in the the report. Are you familiar with how to create subtotals in Classic? See the screenshot below.

Alternatively, you can build two classic models, and combine them in the Data Prep Studio, but based on what you just described, I think re-creating the subtotals in Classic would be ideal for you. It can also be done in the Data Prep Studio too.

When you use a footer (or any template for that matter), you are essentially adding columns to your detail template.  You will be unable to extract the subtotal and place it at the bottom of each grouping in the table view.  I would suggest looking at Baba's recommendation and using a Summary to calculate the subtotals for you, that way they will be placed at the bottom of each grouping/key value.  This can be done in Classic or DPS.

That works.  Thank you Baba and Chris.
