How to change the 1D spring direction

Good day Altair community,

I am having a problem with my spring. I want to change the direction of the spring's force on the tube. I have tried setting a negative K value, changing the order of the spring nodes, and attempting to Flip the spring upside down.

For context:

I have modelled a carbon tube, one side has a boundary condition and the force is applied roughly in the middle of the tube. I have spent the last few days now trying to model a spring on the opposite side of the Boundary condition (to model a rope that supports the beam).

Using: Hypermesh 2023.1

               Optistruct 2022.3

Plan B is to manually calculate the spring force :)

I would appreciate any feedback on what I did wrong.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Kind regards Jens

Springs will apply force in both directions. So if you are wanting to represent a rope where force will only be applied when the rope is in tension you probably need to use a gap element.
