How to model a 1D spring
Good day Altair community,
I was wondering if someone could help me add a spring to my Hypermesh model.
I have modelled a carbon tube, one side has a boundary condition and the force is applied roughly in the middle of the tube. I have spent the last few days trying to model a spring on the opposite side of the Boundary condition (to model a rope that supports the beam).
I created a node with a boundary condition and used the 1D spring to connect the node with a node of the carbon tube. But this always results in an error message:
*** ERROR # 1309 ***
Duplicate SPOINT ID 48845 - it is used on GRID card.
Using: Hypermesh 2023.1
Mech. Solvers 2022.3
I would appreciate any feedback on what I did wrong.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post.
Kind regards Jens

Hi Jens,
I went through your model and found that C1, C2 fields for CELAS1 is blank.
After editing it to 1, the model runs. Also, I segregated the spring to a different component and assigned spring property. Attached is the file for your reference.
Thanks
