Hey guys,

I'd like to do something like design of experiments (reference to Ansys Fluent) on Altair EDEM.
In short I'd like to observe particle acuumulation on a surface while I change multiple input variables in Altair EDEM.
Is there a way to do it?
Please advice.

Thanks,
Kiran

    Hi Kiran,

You can use the EDEM-HyperStudy Connector.

Take a look at the examples in the article.

HyperStudy comes under the same units as EDEM so in most cases users have access to it under their license if they have access to EDEM.

    Best regards,

    Stefan

    Hey Stefan,

    This is a great tool!
Thanks for pointing me to this tool.

I'm primarily looking for particle accumulation on surfaces (mostly, coupled CFD-DEM) so I was thinking if you guys have any tutorials which could help me understand this process (methods involving Hyperstudy and Coupled solutions) better.

I would like to observe the angle of repose for particles falling from a height so can you please give me your opinion on whether this approach using Hyper study connector would be a good option for me?

    Thanks,
    Kiran

    Hi Kiran,

AcuSolve is the Altair CFD solver that EDEM couples to. It comes under the same licenses units as EDEM.

For setting-up a coupled EDEM-AcuSolve model please see:

EDEM - Coupling with Altair CFD eLearning

How to Model coating of particles using EDEM and AcuSolve

For parameterizing a coupled EDEM-AcuSolve model in HyperStudy please see:

Parameterizing an EDEM-AcuSolve model in HyperStudy

How to Optimize Particle and Fluid Flow Using CFD-DEM Coupled Simulations in HyperStudy

We also couple to Ansys Fluent but there are no examples of parameterizing a couple EDEM-Ansys Fluent simulation in HyperStudy to my knowledge. For more details on the EDEM-Fluent coupling please see:

EDEM - Coupling with Ansys Fluent eLearning

    Best regards,

    Stefan
