Duplicate Elements on Matrix Browser

Does anyone know how I would be able to show element id's in matrix browser for duplicate elements? So using matrix browser I could highlight a section of 2D elements and anywhere where the elements are duplicates they are not added to the first column list but are in the cell adjacent to the element they are on top of? Or a tcl script that could do sililar.
