Question: Will the sliding friction be reported in the EDEM Analyst?
Hello everyone,
In my last question, I asked about the fact that EDEM can only derive spring forces without reporting damping forces:

I still have some puzzles about the details of software processing. When sliding occurs, the tangential force is considered as sliding friction. I saw the relevant calculation formula in API.
What I want to know is, when I select "tangential force" in export, does edem treat sliding friction as tangential spring force and export it together? Or treat it as a damping force and not report it? Or even if sliding occurs, edem still exports F_ t instead of sliding friction?
Sincerely,
Yu

Hi Yu,
The force reported in the EDEM Analyst is the undamped force F_t. The F_t + Ft_d (damped force) is used to calculate the motion of the material.
