need help for meshing a not mappable block
Hi,
Anyone knows what's the best way to partition this block to make it mappable?
I'm using ABAQUS. It has to follow the outer shell mesh (in blue) which is like 1.4 mm size and goes to like 0.1 mm (or even 0.05mm) in the curved part.
Any kind of comment about meshing this thing would be appreciated.

Oh gosh! I feel so stupid now!! how did u do it that fast!!? I'm terrible in making the geometry in Hypermesh. did u use hypermesh for the geometry also? could you explain a little in detail? i'd appreciate a step-by-step instruction if u have some time to spare. thank you in advance!
Btw is the outer mesh starts from coarse mesh? it seems all of your mesh is fine mesh.

For very simple geometry, I do that directly within Hypermesh. But that's not so often /emoticons/default_smile.png' srcset='/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x' title=':)' width='20'>
We have alot of CAD system for geometry: Catia, PTC Creo, Solidworks,...
My mesh is just a 'proof of concept' to show you that a mapping mesh is possible for your geometry.
Another suject, like coarse/fin, step-by-step,... that's another things.

Thanks for the quick reply... I got up to this point (screenshot attached) and have the surface mesh for the curved part which is like 0.1mm and the outer surfaces which are 1mm... but now i'm trying to use solid map and obviously it's not mappable whatever cut i makes it more complicated (since i need to keep the outer mesh). any suggestion?

So you want keep coarse mesh at outer side? In this case, you CAN NOT do mappable mesh for your part.
At you place, I'll divide the part into 3 domains:
- Inner domain with fin mesh (mappable)
- Outer domain with coarse mesh (mappable)
- Middle domain (non mappable) will be filled up with Tet & Pyramid elements.

Hey Q.NGUYEN-DAI,
Could you explain how you did the tetramesh of the mid-layer?
I did it but what you have is a rather clean 3-layer that I couldn't get it. I'm a little confused about the tetramesh parameters.
Thanks,
Maysam
