Hi,

We are trying to use linear gap tool in aerospace. But it is working, z+ and z- directions like rigid elements. Can you send us an video and simple example for using linear gap tool.

 Thank you so much

    Hello Mert

Based on the document for Linear Gap tool , the linear gap is created consists of MPC, SPC, SPOINTS and SUPPORT. I would recommend to follow the tutorials for understanding the steps to setup a linear gap analysis for airplane wing rib :

    https://help.altair.com/hwsolvers/os/topics/solvers/os/airplane_wing_rib_r.htm.

Based on the documentation :  Linear gap does not include friction, large displacements, and material non-linearity. The linear gaps provide for simple contact (compressive) forces only. MPC’s are used to define the gaps. The displacements and MPC-forces are used to determine if each gap is "welded" or "free". The solution converges when there is no penetration of MPC's (gap deflection >= 0.0) and there are no tensile forces. An iterative procedure (CDITER-constrained displacement iterative technique) is used to solve the model based on displacements/MPC forces.

Regarding your issue : "But it is working, z+ and z- directions like rigid elements " . Can you share the model setup for your simulation
