2D mesh Hyperworks?

I have a model like the picture below. I divided " Mid Surface " to the model and then 2D meshed to this " Mid surface ". However, as you can see  there are gaps between the Parts in the 2D mesh I just created. The problem is that if I keep assigning thickness to this mesh, will Hyperworks understand that these parts are a unit or does it stay separate from each other after the thickness is assigned.

Besides, after assigning a thickness to the "Mid Surface" grid, there are nodes that are not connected to each other as the locations are circled by blue circles. How does that affect the boundary conditions of the model?

Thank you very much.

if the mesh/nodes are not connected, them your parts are not connected, unless you had a tied contact, for example, combining them.

You should guaranteee that the mesh is connected at the first place. You could do that by adjusting the geometry before meshing, by extending these surfaces to intersect each other, using the 'cross-extension' tool, for example.
