I am simulating Metal Powder compaction process I have done the setup but unable to add force required for compaction please guide me
I am working on Metal powder compaction of uniaxial compaction I am simulating using 0.5mm radius particle and using EEPA model I am facing a problem I can't add the force the component to punch to compact if I add force controller component EDEM is crashing the powder particle is getting out of geometry and if you have any case studies related to metal powder compaction and how to apply force component without EDEM crashing please let me know.
Thank you in advance

Hi Akshay,
We may be able to diagnose the crash if we can review the deck. Would you be able to share it with us? If you'd like to share it privately you could get in touch with us through support at customer-support@altair.com.
We have successfully modelled unaixial compression of powders in the past so we should be able to resolve the issue.
To prevent particle penetraiton through geometry ellements you may want to increase the shear modulus of the geometry material.
Best regards,
Stefan

Hi Akshay
Currently, I am stuck in the same issue, when I compact the particles, they pass through the compressor (a flat surface moving down).
If you do not mind, may I know how you solved this issue?

Hi Trung,
Thanks for getting in touch with this issue. To reduce particle penetration through the geometry you can increase the geometry material shear modulus. It is usually possible to increase it several orders of magnitude without affecting the compaction mechanics.

Hello Trung,
What is the particle size, timestep and shear modulus of geometry and particles?
I will get a better understanding about your case.
Best Regards

As suggested by Stefan this is the best way troubleshoot your problem!
