Hi all experts,

I wonder why typical values for initial velocity are 0.2 - 0.5 m/s for High Pressure Die Casting? Can we use another values? How does it affect our process?

Thanks for your reading.

    Hi Nancy,

Generally, in the industries this value is used as around 0.2 - 0.5 m/s for the first phase velocity, as during this phase the melt is passing through the runner system at low velocity, and it will change to a higher velocity in the second phase up to 5 - 6 m/s when the melt reaches the gate so that the melt will enter at very high velocity in the cavity.
In Inspire Cast you can define these value as per requirement, as sometime the starting velocity can be used as 0.25 - 0.35 m/s and the final velocity can be used as 2.5 - 3 m/s. While some industries use the final velocity up to 5 - 6 m/s based on the part dimensions.

Please let me know if this helps.

    Thanks.
