Generate particles in a hopper

Hello,

I am trying to generate a bed of particles on this hopper so I can then turn the auger and force down the particles in a different simulation. The hopper will move across a platform and dispense the particles by rotating the auger. The issue I am having is that the particles I generate do not rain down and settle onto the concave surface of the hopper. Instead, they just stay level with the surface they generate. I believe this is a problem with my boundary conditions, but I have messed with all kinds of boundary conditions and I still don't get results. The pictures below show details of my issue. Please share any tips. I have a box and a base generated as shown.

Thank you for your time and consideration

Is your gravity turned on in the right direction? That could make the particles not move from where they are generated.
