Simulating multi layer structure
Hi! I am trying to simulate a multilayered antenna, top layer is patch 2nd layer is substrate and then air gap layer between the ground plane and substrate. By using infinite ground plane I am getting results near to HFSS simulations of my structure, but when I try to simulate actual structure with 120mmx120mm ground plane characteristic modes plots are weird as it has sudden jumps at every frequency

Hi @RF Engineer
Glad that you were able to resolve the issue. It seems that your modelling units were in meters instead of mm.

Your model looks correct, I have plotted the corresponding modal surface currents for the first 3 modes in POSTFEKO (see screenshot).
Once you have plotted the surface current, you need to choose the Instantaneous magnitude and then choose Show arrows in the Results tab to show the vector view that you see in the screen shot.
Altair Forum User said:It is possible to do this with Lua, you will need to write a short script to subtract the 2 modal currents.
Altair Forum User said:please look through the Getting Started guide and the User Manual for a description on using Lua, plenty of examples other references.

Can I message you my design?

You may need to refine your meshing, e.g. of the dielectric surfaces. Please have a look at some of the other forum posts, e.g.
