Hi,

I'm trying to install the new version of HW having just been given the updated licence file. My machine is a Win7 64bit.

I've downloaded all the install files from the website but no matter how I run the install (individually or using the master installer) when I try to run HyperMesh, HyperView etc after the installation I get an error message;

'hw.exe - Bad Image

C:\Program Files\Altair\13.0\hw\bin\win64\hwBrowserManager.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.'

I thought I'd downloaded the wrong file but having re-downloaded the Win install files it made no difference.

I have also tried a new clean install (uninstall-reboot-reinstall-reboot), changing the install directory and moving the licence file into different postions but nothing has worked thus far. The licence file is definitely for HW13 and has my ethernet ID listed.

Any help would be appreciated,

Regards,

John

Do you check your downloaded files by using 'checksums' ?

    John,

This is a specific issue, please recheck that you are downloading the correct executable (windows - 64 bit)

Please check the checksums and compare with the values in the website to ensure the file was not corrupted on download

In order to verify the integrity of the software executable after download please do a checksum following the procedure below

    1.      Download MD5 checksum freeware from the web (please note we are not responsible for any effects of external software)

    2.      Double click / run the Winmd5 checksum executable

    3.      Select the executable by clicking on the browse button or drag and drop the file into the window

    4.      Download the original md5 checksum value from the HyperWorks website for the version in question at the link below

    http://www.altairhyperworks.com/HWProductDownload.aspx

    5.      Paste the original value of the md5 checksum in the gui tool and click on verify

    Hi Both,

I have completed checksums on the install files. 'MD5 Hash' matched in all cases. Still the same issue

    Hi,

have the same issue using Windows 8.1. After a Windows update my HW 13.0 installation did no longer work. I tried to reinstall HW, but the error stil occured. (Despite no error messages during installation)

It would be great if you find a solution to this issue image/emoticons/default_smile.png' alt=':)' srcset='/emoticons/smile@2x.png 2x' width='20' height='20'>

    Hi All,

I am also having this issue after installing 13.0 on my Windows 8.1 machine.

I have followed the steps above and have verified the md5.

Any help with a solution would be appreciated

This could be  related to your antivirus solution , (avast for instance) which could be moving this specific item to the quarantine. Please check and if so you may need to remove it from quarantine manually and assign it as a “secure file”.

    Hi,

I tried adding an exception to my antivirus as well as turning it off completely. I also installed an optional Windows Update. Unfortunately HyperMesh still doesn't work.

The errors started occurring after installing the automatic Windows update KB3011780. Maybe there is some connection.

    Best regards
