Elements not defined in template

Hello!

I am a student taking a modeling class in the context of biomaterials, but I have only had 2 hours of instruction with Hypermesh (with no homework assignments). This means I barely know how to use this program. For our final project my professor wants us to run a simple FEA on a biomaterial that we segmented and remeshed in MIMICS & imported into Hypermesh. This project & report is due Thursday, however my professor is out of town until the day before its due. I have no one to turn to for help & I know everyone else is struggling and having similar issues.

Can someone please take a look at my .hm file and tell me what I need to do to get some sort of FEA results file I can use for my project? The current error is that some of my elements are not defined in the template. I have looked at other forum suggestions but none of them have worked.

I am in desperate need for help. Any type of help will be much appreciated!

Thank you!

    Hi Kbot,

I can see that no property is defined,

I suggest you to go through the video(s) in the link below and plan your fea model accordingly.

Please follow the links in the above posts, you can easily self learn using those and other materials in the training center,

the error not defined in the template is because the elements are not assigned the correct type (of card image)

Before you start your analysis, you must decide which solver you are going to solve your model in, then choose this as the user profile (preferences > user profile). Then before you export or solve your model, you must go to 2d element types and then select all the elements, and update to the element type, without this you will see the error.

Note also that FEA requires good element quality, your tet collapse is in 50% which means the model has 50% bad elements. before you solve you need to check element quality in tool > check elements. ]

a good place to start is the HyperWorks student guide - http://www.altairuniversity.com/free-ebook-practical-aspects-of-finite-element-simulation-a-study-guide/

In the panels area (in the bottom), under 2D >> element types

Select all your elements and then update their types to the correct ones.

    Hi Kasturi,

You can attach the file here.
