I wan to use 'BSURF' to define a deformable body in HyperMesh, but solid elements are not supported in HyperMesh.

But in MSC Nastran, 'BSURF' supports solid elements.

This is a bug or limitation for Hypermesh?

I am also facing this problem, using BSURF for Solid elements.

BSURF works excellent with 2D elements, however for Solid elements HyperMesh has BSURFS (additional S at the end, perhaps for Solid).

There you can select the Solid element(s), but not only element(s) ,,, you have to mentioned the nodes (of the face of this solid element) which will be probably in contact with the other contact surface ...

I can individually select the nodes,,, but the problem becomes severe when I have to create contact interface for big/complex faces ... In such situations I am not able to select these nodes.

Some people from HyperMesh support service told that supporting Solid elements in BSURF is 'on-the-list' and most probably this feature will be available in release 12.x

I have access to 11.x only, at the moment, so anyone with new version can check if they have developed this contact onterface for MSC.NASTRAN or not.

What is the specific issue you are facing with the creation? The creation/export of BSURF has been possible for many years now (6+) since v2017.1 at least

right click in Entity Editor, create set, BSURF: and select elements
