    You can use: File-->Import-->Geometry and then select the file format and the location of the file to import (Or leave the option 'Auto detect') on the menu. I am sure I imported an STL file once (using HM version 10.0).

    To import STL files go to Import FE Model (v10) or Import Solver Deck (v11).
