Project Nodes
Hey all,
I have a question about the project nodes function. I would like to project nodes from one mesh to a different surface, and then mesh that surface around those nodes using 2d shells. Right now, when I project nodes, the 2d automesher does not respect them and creates its own mesh reardless of the projected nodes.
My problem is that I have a T-connection. I am using 2d shells, so the intersectino between my 2 beams must have 1-to-1 node connectivity. It seems easiest to mesh one beam and then project the nodes from that beam to the other beam to get the 1-to-1 node connectivity. Can anyone tell me how I can do this?
Thanks a lot,

Why don't you project ELEM instead of NODES -
Choose the shell elements
click ELEM again and select DUPLICATE
choose current or original collector for where duplicate elements go
Project!
Then your mesh will match. May have to tweak the edges if some nodes don't hit the edge lines of the surface.
I don't remember how to Associate to the surface ...

If you create 'points' on the target surface using the projected nodes, the automesher will create nodes in the new mesh to occur at those locations. The mesh pattern may not match the original surface, but you will get nodes where you want them. Phoebe's suggestion to project the elements will obviously match the mesh patterns on the surface.
You may also want to try out the connectors panel and create seam or adhesive connectors between your two parts. They can be used to link up the connection locations between surfaces.
