I tetramesh a solid with 'volume tetra' and this doesn't work. Unfortunately the error messages disappear within seconds. How can I retrieve these error messages. Is there anywhere an error logfile or something else?

There is no easy way to do this. You can take the command.cmf file, convert it into a tcl file, add a global variable, run the tcl and have the error message written to the global variable.
I would rather put a quick tria mesh on the surfaces using automesh panel (F12) and use the 'tetra mesh' sub panel instead of 'volume tetra' to obtain a tet mesh.
