Hi,

How do I copy a set of white nodes and translate a certain distance to make a new set of black nodes as shown in the picture?

I want to create a series of springs using the spotweld function.

Regards

Ed

Go to Translate panel > you can select the nodes > click on the yellow button 'nodes' entity selector > duplicate > then translate by required distance.

     then you can use spotweld

    Hi Rahaul,

Thanks this works. However, I created the corresponding set of nodes. The springs are created but it seems there some spings that are unwanted. I basically selected the set of nodes for independent and the  other corresponding set for dependent. Not sure what is happening.

    Regards

In other words, how do I control the which nodes are getting connected?

    Hi,

do not translate, use offset (2D>offset>shell offset) to offset (duplicated) 2d elements inward

then using 1d linear (1D> linear 1d) , change elem config ==> spring to generate Springs

    Hi,

The elements in question as shown in the last picture are solid elements not shell....

No problem, make face of 3D and offset face, do linear 1D on that face
